HSBC is an international bank, headquartered in London. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange where it is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index – and it is also listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
As well as the main HSBC brand, the bank also owns First Direct and M&S Bank. It is one of the UK’s largest banks and offers a comprehensive range of banking products as well as insurance policies.
HSBC has a strong score for its complaints handling. And overall, the bank now sits mid-table in most areas where we rate it.
Credit cards and personal loans are the exceptions. HSBC picks up a Bronze Fairer Finance Ribbon for both thanks to strong transparency and complaints scores bolstering fairly average happiness and trust ratings.
HSBC has middling overall scores for its mortgages. And it slides to near the bottom of the tables for its current and savings accounts. Trust and transparency are both rated very poorly across each.
