Barclays is one of the largest UK banks. It is a publicly limited company, listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 100 index.
It’s traces its origins back to the late seventeeth century. James Barclay, who the business is named after, became a partner in 1736. It is based in London’s Canary Wharf district.
The company offers a full suite of financial products from current accounts to mortgages, insurance and investment services. It offers credit cards through its sister brand Barclaycard.
Its home insurance is provided by Gresham Insurance Company, which is owned by Aviva, and its travel insurance is provided by Aviva.
