Halifax doesn’t just offer banking services, but also provides various insurance products. These are backed by several different underwriters.
Its home and travel insurance offerings picked up a Bronze Fairer Finance Ribbon each in our previous ratings. Halifax has stepped its game up since then. Its travel insurance now has a Silver Ribbon and its home insurance received a Gold Ribbon in our latest ratings.
These have both benefitted from good transparency scores, but our trust survey revealed that there is still a lot of room for improvement in this area.
Its car insurance suffers from a fairly low trust and transparency scores, which along with a mediocre happiness rating leaves it close to the bottom of our rankings.
Halifax’s home insurance is underwritten by Lloyds Bank General Insurance, its travel insurance by AXA.
Its car insurance is arranged and administered by BISL Limited, which owns Budget Insurance and Dial Direct. Customers are passed on by BISL to one of a number of other insurers on its panel.
