AIG Life
AIG Life is the UK life insurance arm of AIG - one of the world's largest insurers. As AIG Life they work in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Gibraltar.
It owns travel insurer Direct Travel and Direct Car Excess Insurance. The latter of these can offer extra cover for people driving a rental car, to cover 'gaps' in the car insurance included by the rental company.
AIG also has a number of protection products which it sells under the AIG Life brand. In 2014, it bought Ageas' life insurance business.
The parent company AIG was founded in 1919, and now has headquarters in New York and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
