In July 2020, The Times newspaper ran a story reporting that the General Medical Council was taking TIF’s chief medical officer  to a “fitness to practice” tribunal, accusing him of "impairment by misconduct”. TIF says it takes advice from a number of doctors, and says its chief medical officer denies the allegations. Until this case is resolved, we have removed our ratings of TIF products

Golfguard is a specialist golf insurance provider founded 30 years ago, it also offers travel insurance.

As well as offering insurance to golfers and golf clubs, Golfguard provides a range of other insurance products, such as cruise cover and boat insurance. It's based in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

Golfguard travel insurance policies are issued through Travel First Insurance and is arranged by Golfguard Ltd. 

Its travel insurance is underwritten by Travel Insurance Facilities, one of the UK's largest travel insurance providers.

In turn, its policies are insured by large German insurance company Union Reiseversicherung AG (URV), which is part of Germany's largest banking group Versicherungskammer Bayern Group.
