AXA is a large multinational insurance company based in Paris, France. It is one of the world’s oldest insurance institutions, having been founded in 1816.
AXA offers a number of different insurance, investment and pension products in the UK.
It only took on the AXA moniker around 30 years ago, and now owns various brands, such as the Bluefin Insurance Group and Swiftcover. It also acts as an underwriter for many other insurance brokers. These include Thomson and Marks & Spencer Bank.
Customer ratings on trust and happiness reveal these to be below average.
It also has a middling record on its complaints handling. It ranks as average or below average in car and home insurance. But it is not so bad when compared to its rivals in the travel insurance sector, and does enough to gain a Bronze Fairer Finance Ribbon.
