James Daley has been a consumer campaigner and financial journalist for over 25 years. Before launching Fairer Finance in 2014, he worked for the consumer group, Which?, where he campaigned for a better deal for customers of banks and insurers in the wake of the financial crisis.
James is frequently interviewed on national television and radio, and has regularly appeared on shows such as Watchdog, Rip-off Britain, Dispatches and Moneybox.
Before working at Which?, James spent 10 years as a business and finance newspaper journalist, latterly as the The Independent's personal finance editor and cycling columnist.
James is a member of both UK Finance's and the Association of British Insurers' Consumer Advisory Groups. He was also previously a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute's professional standards board, and is an Honorary Alderman of the London Borough of Wandsworth having served as a councillor for 12 years.
He lives with his wife and two children in Tooting, where he's also Chair of Governors at Smallwood Primary School.
Tim Hogg is a behavioural economist with over 10 years experience of advising on the design and implementation of regulation. Tim specialises in assessing the implications arising from business models, product design, pricing, and customer communications.
Tim has advised firms across financial services on the fair value of their products, including: general & life insurance; investments & pensions; current & savings accounts; mortgages; and consumer credit. He focusses on quantifying consumer outcomes and providing the consumer perspective. Tim has led economic studies for trade bodies and regulators across Europe.
He is an experienced trainer on behavioural science, and designs behavioural experiments and surveys. Tim won the International Institute of Communications 2018 Future Leaders Competition and has testified to the European Commission in a competition law context. Tim is an adviser to Christians Against Poverty, and is a member of TISA's Consumer Forum.
Tim spends as much of his time as he can playing football, badminton, and frisbee.
Eve is the Head of Consumer Duty at Fairer Finance. Her specialism in language and linguistics informs her work advising clients on embedding the Consumer Duty. Eve draws on her knowledge of regulation to support firms across banking and insurance.
Eve has managed numerous projects assessing firms’ fair value and consumer understanding strategies, using behavioural science to highlight areas of potential risk to consumers. She regularly delivers training to clients on preparing for the Consumer Duty, Financial Promotions, and behavioural science.
Before joining in 2021, she graduated from the University of Bristol with a BA in French and Russian. During her degree, she worked in a tech start-up in Paris, and spent six months studying in Tomsk, Siberia. When she’s not working you can find Eve trying out new recipes in her kitchen or at QPR games with her partner.
Pete is the Head of Research at Fairer Finance. He joined the company in 2019 and is an expert in banking and insurance. He leads the 13 strong research team in London and Delhi and is part of the Fairer Finance leadership team. Pete graduated with a BSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and has an MSc in Sustainable Food and Natural Resources from the Centre for Alternative Technology.
Pete is passionate about climbing, MMA and reading.
Jaclyn joined Fairer Finance as an executive assistance in June 2025. She has over five years of supporting senior leadership as an EA. She studied Business Administration at the former Port Elizabeth Technikon and brings organizational and communication skills to the team. Outside of work, Jaclyn enjoys playing padel, reading, and spending time with her family.
Anjali is Consultancy Manager at Fairer Finance. With a background in linguistics and language, she advises firms on how to deliver excellent customer outcomes. Anjali assesses the extent to which organisations have embedded the Consumer Duty, and uses her specialism to advise on achieving customer understanding.
Anjali has led the rewrites of dozens of customer communications across financial services markets. This includes contractual documents, such as Ts&Cs and policy documents, as well as brochures, letters, and emails. Anjali has also managed numerous projects analysing the clarity of online and offline customer communications and assessing them against the FCA’s expectations. She has delivered training to some of the UK’s best-known financial services brands.
Before joining in 2021, Anjali graduated from the University of York with a BA in English Language and Linguistics. During her degree, she tutored primary school children in English. Anjali spends her free time reading, going for long walks, and listening to true-crime podcasts.
John is a Senior Associate at Fairer Finance. John advises on policymaking and the design of regulation in financial services, as well as competition and strategic matters.
John advised the FCA on the Strategic Review of Retail Banking Business Models, ran behavioural experiments for the regulator, and trained a large number of FCA staff on competition and behavioural economics. John also led studies for regulators on regulatory best practice and international comparisons.
Prior to joining Fairer Finance, John was Director of financial services economics at Deloitte and Principal at Oxera Consulting.
Yasmin is a Senior Consultant at Fairer Finance. Using her skills in language, regulation, and behavioural insights, she advises firms on embedding the Consumer Duty.
Yasmin has reviewed and rewritten customer communications sent by banks, building societies, and insurance companies. She has also supported firms in designing compliant financial promotions, and has assessed online customer journeys through a consumer understanding lens.
Yasmin graduated from Durham University in 2020 with a degree in English Literature. She worked in administration before joining Fairer Finance in 2023. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and running.
Rob is the Research Operations Manager at Fairer Finance. Rob graduated with a MA in Cultural Geography from Royal Holloway and has worked in market research, administration, and most recently as a supporter care advisor for Diabetes UK. He joined Fairer Finance in 2021.
Rob enjoys reading, playing tennis, and film.
Angbeen (pronounced ung-bean) is a Consultant at Fairer Finance. With experience in marketing and an academic background in research, she supports firms in meeting the FCA's standards for clearer communications and implementing the Consumer Duty.
She’s worked with insurers and banks across the sector to improve customer communications, including Ts&Cs, policy documents, letters, and online customer journeys. She’s also supported Consumer Duty assessments across the four outcomes.
Angbeen graduated with a degree in Sociology from the London School of Economics in 2022. Before joining Fairer Finance, she interned at the Department for International Trade. Outside of work, she likes writing, going to the movies, and learning to crochet.
Phil is a Consultant with Fairer Finance. He has a background in academia, having studied social and developmental psychology at Royal Holloway and LSE.
He has experience working within psychological research, investigating a wide range of topics including decision making, social media, and mental health.
In his spare time Phil is a keen sportsman playing touch rugby, football, and squash. He is a huge musical theatre fan and avid reader of fantasy novels.
Harry is a senior researcher at Fairer Finance. As part of the research team, he is responsible for keeping the product ratings up to date, primarily focusing on our ratings for investment platforms. Harry graduated with a BA in Accounting & Finance from Middlesex University before joining Fairer Finance.
Harry is a keen traveller having been to over 40 countries and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2017. He one day hopes to complete the seven summits.
Nick is a Senior Researcher at Fairer Finance. In addition to data collection and verification tasks, Nick has extensive experience in using Python and similar tools, both to perform data analysis and to implement operational improvements. Analysis tasks that Nick has experience in include interpreting, analysing, and visualising large datasets (such as survey responses), and using mathematical modelling to understand various different types of datasets.
Nick graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford in 2019, and worked as a research mathematician before joining Fairer Finance in 2025.
Ruth is the Head of Fairer Finance Scotland, which launched in September 2017.
She is an experienced consultant who has advised major firms in the insurance and technology sectors on product design and communications. She has designed life and health insurance products, helping companies adapt to their customers needs.
Writing the terms and conditions in financial services has featured at many points in Ruth’s career. From the early days, she believed helping the reader to understand is even more important than crossing the legal t's and dotting the compliance i's. Her law degree allowed her to take more conservative colleagues some way on this journey. There’s no surprise then that she has joined Fairer Finance’s team to do more of this for financial services companies in Scotland and beyond.
Siwani is a Business Analyst in Fairer Finance's Delhi team. She is an MBA with a specialisation in Finance and Marketing. Before that she graduated in Finance from Banaras Hindu University and is also a Law degree holder. She has worked as an Analyst at the Ministry of Defense and some other corporate offices. Her hobbies include travelling, reading and writing.
Manjula is working as Business Analyst in Fairer Finance's Delhi team. Before working for Fairer Finance, she completed her MBA in Finance and was associated with the banking sector in India. Apart from work, you can find her baking some cookies for her home baking business - One Last Dessert.
Susmita is a business analyst in Fairer Finance's Delhi team. She has an MA in Financial Economics from Birla Global University. Her previous research examined financial inclusion and the gig economy, as well as financial constrainst on various sectors of the Indian economy. In her spare time, she enjoys helping street dogs, singing, reading novels, and listening to detective podcasts.
Twinkle is employed with Fairer Finance as a researcher/analyst. She has a postgraduate diploma in finance management. She performed intricate financial computations and reconciliations, including investment-related ratios and periodic reporting metrics, while working as an analyst at Goldman Sachs before joining Fairer Finance. Twinkle enjoys painting in her free time and has a talent for art.
Chirantan is a business analyst in Fairer Finance's Delhi team. He has a Masters in Financial Economics and has worked across diverse sectors such as Finance, Legal and B2B SaaS. His previous research included Time Series Analysis of Financial Reporting Integrity Among India’s Leading Listed Companies and has a keen interest in the world of Geo-Politics, Welfare Economics, and Public Infrastructure. In his spare time, he enjoys following football- particularly Arsenal, reading novels, and cooking.
Kavya is a Business Analyst with Fairer Finance’s Delhi team. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Business Management, completed in 2021. She has over three years of experience across IT and outsourcing sectors, with a strong focus on research and data analysis. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, cooking, baking, and is passionate about visual arts, especially creating portraits.
